I have been a Lay Minister in the Church of England since 1987, having previously been a local preacher in the Methodist Church. I joined Holy Trinity in 2018, after many years of Reader ministry at Oxclose Church. I feel privileged to be part of the ministry team here, and my hobbies include singing, listening to music and knitting.

I’m a Lay Pastoral Minister, and my role involves visiting a whole range of people in our community, keeping them connected with church, administering Home Communion, and supporting them with what they’re going through. I’ve been in my trained pastoral role since 2010, and enjoy all aspects of this ministry. I’m also a member of the Bereavement Team, and involved with our monthly Bereavement Coffee mornings.

As a Lay Pastoral Minister I offer welcome and support to new members to Church.
I administer Holy Communion to the Housebound and in Care Homes and assist in the preparation of candidates for Confirmation.
I am involved in the Worship of the Church and assist with Bible Study Groups.

I was appointed Organist and Choir Trainer at Holy Trinity Church in 1970 and for over 50 years I have continued to develop a high standard of Church Music, a robed choir, the recruitment and training of both boys and girls as well as chorister training of 4-part harmony. I also encourage young and older instrumentalists in the development of their talents.
Throughout this time I have maintained a close working relationship with our national body, the Royal School of Church Music.

As Church warden, I hope to provide support for our clergy and community and help to care for our historic church and grounds. I feel lucky to be a member of the choir, contributing to our wonderful musical tradition which enriches our worship. I am also a member of the churchyard team, helping to rediscover and nurture our Old Churchyard.
Andrew Cresswell
Church warden. A former teacher, I joined Holy Trinity Washington in 2012 after having served 20 years as organist/choirmaster at St. Cuthbert's, Allendale (Northumberland). In church my main interests include the development of community links and our musical life. Outside church, my main passion is for History.

As church administrator I like to ensure that everyone gets a warm welcome to any enquiries from Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals or whatever your query may be. I’m only a phone call or email away. Outside of church I like to keep fit and I’m also an avid crafter.
Judith Petherick
It is a constant privilege (and occasional challenge) to be PCC treasurer, giving me oversight of all financial matters to help safeguard our present activity and future mission. I also enjoy singing in the choir, participating in both the reading and intercession rota, and assisting at our monthly Connect service.
